Oraro & Company Advocates featured in leading international directory’s Sub-Saharan African rankings

Globally recognised legal directory IFLR 1000 recently ranked Oraro & Company Advocates as one of Kenya’s leading law firms in its 2016 Sub-Saharan African law firm rankings. The annual report notably recognised the firm’s practice in the Energy, Financial & Corporate, Infrastructure and Mining areas. Noteworthy is that the firm is ranked in the second highest tiers in mining and infrastructure – undoubtedly, two of Kenya’s fastest growing sectors.

The rankings are timely, given the firm (one of Kenya’s oldest firms, known  primarily for its well-regarded disputes team) recently announced its plans to continue bolstering its Corporate and Commercial team. All to provide its local and international clients a “full-service” experience in both transactions and disputes. Indeed, in 2015 the firm welcomed as partner, Nelly Gitau (formerly of Harrison, Hamilton & Matthews) who has brought considerable commercial expertise to the firm.

The firm also recently broadened its practice in Tax, becoming one of a handful of Kenyan firms with a fully fledged tax practice offering both contentious and non-contentious support in the area. The firm’s tax team is led by the firm’s senior partner – George Oraro SC (one of Kenya’s top dispute resolution experts who has acted in some of Kenya’s biggest tax disputes and acted in several high-profile commercial transactions).
