Anne started off as a pupil in 2016 in the firm to her current position as associate in the litigation pratice. Notable is that she was part of the team that conducted a due diligence for Ascent Rift Valley Fund Ltd.

Top matters

  • Advising the successful bidder with respect to one of the lots for the County Government of Nairobi Urban/Regenerations program. It is a low cost housing project with PPP aspects that involves the re-development of an old housing estate belonging to the NCC
  • Part of the team advising one of Kenya’s largest publicly listed sugar manufacturing companies on the refinancing and restructuring of its debts by both local and international lenders
  • Part of the team that advised Ascent Rift Valley Fund Ltd (a Mauritian based private equity fund) that invested in Kisumu Concrete Products Ltd (the Target) which deals with the manufacture and supply of building materials. We undertook a comprehensive legal due diligence in respect to the Target’s legal and corporate compliance status
  • Conducted an independent legal audit of about seven hundred (700) cases for a leading sugar processing company. This involved a physical review of the files in respect of all seven hundred (700) cases with a view of establishing the nature of the cases, the exposure they posed to the company and if so, the monetary value of the claim or liability
  • Advising a major American private equity fund on its legal options and remedies against former directors and shareholders of a leading East African civil engineering and construction company. The matter concerned a shareholders’ agreement, a convertible note debt for equity swap, a share pledge agreement and personal guarantees with a view of recovering a LCIA arbitral award of USD 312.7 million (KES 31.3 billion)
  • Advising and providing a second legal opinion on Kenyan law governing matters relating to aircraft engine financing and leasing
  • Assisted in a matter that lead to a court decision on the establishing of a duty of care to non-customers by banks
  • Advising a brewery company on gaming and lottery in a tax dispute at the Tax Appeal Tribunal
