BACKGROUND
Meshack is an Associate in the litigation department. With over 4 years of experience, he specialises in arbitration, banking and commercial due diligence, employment and labour disputes, constitutional law, judicial review and fintech.
He has assisted in advising and acting for both local and international clients across a wide array of sectors including financial services, manufacturing, payment services providers and public benefit organisations.
Meshack is part of the team representing a Kenya Government Corporation (in its capacity as receiver of various banks under receivership), against claims by its depositors and shareholders, as well as being part of the team representing the Corporation in the tracing and recovery of assets worth USD 220 million from individuals and companies alleged to have defrauded a mid-sized Kenyan bank, leading up to its receivership.
Meshack holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and Sociology, both from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a post-graduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
EXPERIENCE
- Part of the team representing a Kenyan Government Corporation (in its capacity as receiver of various banks under receivership), against claims by its depositors and shareholders, as well as being part of the team representing the corporation in the tracing and recovery of assets worth USD 220 million from individuals and companies alleged to have defrauded a mid-sized Kenyan bank, leading up to its receivership.
- Part of the team representing a beauty products supplier in a claim worth USD 400,000 against a local supplier for breach of a supply agreement.
- Part of the team representing an executor of an estate valued at USD 210 million during the process of administration and distribution.
- Part of the team representing an international shipping company in a claim worth USD 300,000 against a local food and beverage supplier for breach of contract.
- Part of the team representing an international pharmaceutical company at the Court of Appeal challenging a judicial review decision in the High Court that emanated from the Kenya Medical Suppliers Authority’s decision to award a tender for antiretroviral drugs to an international supplier.
- Part of the team representing an international shoe company at the Tax Appeal Tribunal in a dispute revolving around transfer pricing worth USD 20 million.
