The 2019 edition of the rankings saw six of our Partners recognised, namely;

Referring to the firm as a Dispute Resolution powerhouse, the directory ranked four of our litigation lawyers led by our Senior Partner, George Oraro SC who was ranked as a Band 1 litigator and also as a Band 1 Arbitrator. Further to lauding him as a “brilliant legal mind”, a client interviewed by the directory identified him as one of the most well-rounded lawyers with exceptional client care adding that “…in terms of client care, I’ve never seen someone so willing to go the extra mile.” Also ranked as a Band 1 lawyer in Dispute Resolution was our Managing Partner, Chacha Odera who is highly regarded as a leading commercial Dispute Resolution lawyer with a strong track record in Banking and Insolvency-related disputes. Chacha was also ranked Band 2 in Employment where he was recognised for his contribution and activity in the Employment courts “when things get very serious.”

Walter Amoko retained his Band 1 position as a pre-eminent Employment litigator with expertise in class action defence and union disputes. Chambers Global remarked that “He’s top tier for the high calibre of disputes that he handles and his preparation.” Walter is also highly commended for his disputes practice with the directory ranking him in Band 2 saying “He’s excellent on his feet in court. He’s a very fine lawyer, even in his paperwork” and “extremely bright.

Following last year’s recognition as “…one to watch”, Georgina Ogalo-Omondi was ranked Band 3 in Employment. To this, the directory described her as “energetic and articulate,” adding that she is “very well versed in employment matters.”

Noella Lubano was ranked as an Up and Coming in the Dispute Resolution practice area. She was praised as “a good strategist” with “extensive knowledge of ICC arbitration and an investigative approach.” Noella was commended for her excellent reputation in handling commercial disputes as well as banking and insolvency cases. The directory remarked that “She’s an expert in arbitration and a force to be reckoned with in cross-examinations.

Jacob Ochieng, a Partner in the Corporate & Commercial practice area was also cited as an Up and Coming in the field and recognised for his experience in M&A, Joint Ventures and Microfinance with the directory noting that he is a brilliant fellow with big capital markets expertise.”
